What to expect
How we work together
Therapy is a place and time to reflect, explore different areas of your life, understand your thoughts, connect to your emotions, and gain self-knowledge and awareness. It is a process through which you learn to be brutally honest with yourself. It is challenging at times, but also immensely rewarding.
What happens in a session
During a session, we will be curious about all sorts of circumstances, past and present – an issue in your relationship, a feeling for a sibling, your colleagues at work, a specific memory, sex, spirituality, dreams - or anything that is on your mind. No topic is too mundane, too personal, or not fitting for therapy. I will listen, ask questions, at times offer input; together, we will be able to spot patterns, to make more sense of life, and create change.
My approach
I have anevidence-based approach thatembraces creativity. I integrate tools from various schools of therapy (including CBT, Psychodynamic, Systemic and Attachment-based therapy) to explore situations, and then tailor the intervention to you.
What I offer
Short, medium, and long-term online Individual Therapy
Short, medium, and long-term online Relational Therapy - partners, siblings, friends, chosen family etc.
Individual and Relational stand alone sessions
Sessions range from 50 to 75 minutes
Languages: English and Italian
Making the most of online therapy
Add small rituals to your session: use consistent elements (space, blanket, mug, tea) to help you get into 'therapy mode'
Respect your session: switch off phone, turn off notifications, close/minimise browsers - this is your time.
Be at ease: sit somewhere comfortable. Plug your laptop/phone. Have water and tissues with you.
Allow time before and after: 10–15 minutes each end to clear your mind and ground yourself.
Remember privacy: prioritise this aspect above everything else - how can you be open if someone else is listening?
First steps
It can be difficult to decide whether someone is the right person to help, even more so in times of distress. Be in touch for a 20 minutes free telephone consultation, or via email, to discuss what you expect and hope to change through therapy, and see whether it feels right to work together.
If it feels right, we will meet for an initial assessment, which will give us a chance to understand what you are going through, and make an initial plan for our work together. Individual assessment takes 1-2 sessions depending from circumstances and personal history. Relational assessment takes 1 75-minute session where I meet you together, and 1 50-minute individual session for each of you.
We could decide to focus on a specific issue and agree on a set number of sessions, or consider therapy as an open ended, existential process, with an explorative focus. As therapy is a process of change, plans around it can change too, so from time to time we will review our work together.
